The Viper Island is situated Western side of Port Blair and very near to Chouldari and Hatitapu, Namunaghar and Dandus Point. These area separated by sea from Viper Island just about 100mtr. It is very tiny island there is a small hill about more than 200ft. at the middle of the island. On the top of the hill a gallows were constructed by the British Government. The first ever Jail was constructed in these island due to increase of convicts. This was a single store jail building. The convict Sher Ali who killed Lord Mayo was brought to put in the Viper Gallows on Monday 11th March 1972. Down of the hill near jetty one guard house still witnessing the symbol of British Rule. Many other ruins structure such as Viper Jail, Hospital, Kutchery, some portion of Deputy Superintendence Bungalow and other buildings in ruins covered with trees and roots
This jail was constructed in Aberdeen Atlanta point in Port Blair certain or all the changes had been made which was enforced to effect in the operation of Viper jail by the issue of various orders. The construction of the Cellular Jail was taken up in the year 1896 on the basis of Order no. 423 dated 30th September 1896 issued by the Administration. The order was issued by the Col. NMT Horsford Superintendent of Port Blair. The Jail was originally meant for accommodating 600 prisoners and the estimated cost including the cash and labour components then was Rs. 5,17,352/-. Actual Construction was taken up in October 1896 and completed in 1906 when Sir Richard Tempal was the Chief Commissioner. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a holy place for the freedom fighters so soon after the attainment of independence “Andaman Mukti Teerthe” a publication was brought out by the ex-political prisoners after the visit of the some freedom fighters to these islands, they took up the issue of preserving as a national Memorial with the Govt. of India. Cellular jail is National and Historical importance hence converted into a national Memorial by the then Prime Minister, Sri Morargi Desai on 11 February, 1979 in the presence of patriots who had been incarnated in the jail. The Cellular Jail is the Temple of Freedom struggle which still stands as an incessant source of immense inspiration to the generations to come. Even few years back and today, aged persons in the mainland called Andaman “Kalapani” (From my personal experience.)
This island is a small island but its importance is that a saw Mill which is one of the oldest and large mill in Asia. This island is connected to Port Blair by a bridge. It is store house of Timber like Padak, Gurjan, Marble, Satin wood etc. this island has a second largest wharf of this islands. The Mill was established in 1883 for meeting the Sawn timber for construction works. Unfortunately, the mill was destroyed badly during the II World War, by the direct hit of bombs in mid 40s and 50s.
Aamkunj beach in Rangat is a very popular picnic place to relax on weekends. Swimming is possible at high and low tide.
Moricedera beach in Rangat is situated about 12km from Rangat Andaman. More than swimming it serves as a popular picnic and resting place.
Situated in Middle Andaman about 172 km from Port Blair. Rangat holds immense potential for tourism. Amkunj Beach just 7km away from Rangat Township had developed as a modern beach resort by the Forest Department. One can reach Rangat from Port Blair by road and sea. The fair to Rangat passes through a creek. The frequent sight of Dolphins enroute is thrilling. A 12 bed Guest house and few private lodges meet the accommodation requirement at Rangat. Govt. Yatri Nivas was opened for the stay to the tourists. A pick nick spot also developed by the Forest Department at Motich Dera about 3km from Amkunj Beach.
Located about 90km from Port Blair on the way to Rangat, This ‘Bird’ shaped small island is a new tourist destination. There are more than hundreds of rooms, hotels are going to be opened and a long beach at Lalaji Bay just 5.6km away from the jetty is one of the rarest and ideal for boating and fishing and other water sports. Long Island is connected to Port Blair and Rangat by a regular fairy service. There is a helipad already completed and ready for public service. Yeratta had a small jetty where the tourists can reach Long islands within 40 min by fibre boat and 1 hour by ferry boat from Yeratta Jetty. One increasing tourists flow the boat will be available at Yeratta and Long Island.
It is about 240km from Port Blair passing Baratang, Kadantala, Rangat, Billi Ground. Maya Bunder has a small wharf / jetty where the Mainland bound ship touched for a few hours for embarking the passengers. Maya Bandar has a beautiful beach at Karmatang beach for the tourists, many hotels and lodges and Bed and Breakfast scheme home stay namely ‘Koh hee’ at Webi village run by Keran family at Maya Bandar and serve homemade tasty Keran Tribal food for the guest tourist. They are very friendly and hospitality towards the guests. Karmatang Beach partially developed by the Forest Department and suitable for water sports, fishing. This beach is situated as a {Shape}, so the wave of the sea cannot hit directly. Tourist can enjoy almost in all seasons. Many bunker constructed by the Japanese during the Japanese occupied these islands.
Diglipur is a well developed area of North Andaman. In Diglipur every villages every corners connected with roads and bridges. The basic needs i.e., water supply, electricity, sanitation, tap water connection has been provided by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. Diglipur is a rice production centre of Andaman and Nicobar islands. Ram Nagar is situated in Diglipur Taesil, there is a beautiful sea beach this sea beach is East ward of Kalighat about 7km distance from (Kalighat). Huge numbers of tortoise coming in this beach during their breading time. The tourist enjoy the beach another water sports activities. There are other sea beaches- Limiya Bay, Kalipur, Ariel Bay and a beautiful sandy bridge connected two islands one is Ross Island and another is Smith Island. During low tide these two islands connected by sand like the road constructed by sand only. It is a beautiful look. Tourists and all other people automatically attracted to see this unbelievable believe. During high tide this sand road became invade but after low tide this sand road appears like a dream. These islands situated East ward of Ariel Bay and Durgapur about 2 to 3 nautical miles, a ferry boat plying between Smith Island and Diglipur from Ariel Bay Jetty. The North portion Smith Island is Bangali settlement area. Keeping in mind the needs of the tourists those who like adventure tour for the tracking, the Forest Department developed a tracking route from the Lamia Bay tracking point to Peak of the hill, the Saddle Peak is about 732 mtrs. i.e. 2415.6 feet.
This is another beautiful beach which could serve as a pit stop for a quiet evening walk or just a relaxing day.

Sitapur Beach or beach no.5 is a renowned beach in Andaman and Nicobar Island, located at the tip of Neil Island.
Mount Harriet is beautiful hill station situated on the Northern side of Chatham Island and very near to Port Blair about 2 hours journey by road and boat (vehicle ferry). This beautiful hill station calm and pollution free is just a high of 1200feet above sea level. The Forest Department develop this interesting and attracted this hilly station. There are rest houses and 2 huts were the tourist and VIP are often stay, prior permission may be obtained from the concerned Divisional Forest Officer. Mount Harriet was first visit the Lord Mayo, the then Viceroy and Governor General of India. There are many ancient structure constructed during British Rule by convicts of Panel Settlement using local stone and surkhi motor like Gunman-cum-Security camp (now converted as guest house). This hilly station (Mount Harriet) converted and preserved as a National Park, everyday huge tourist and local visitors visited the beautiful National Park.

Once you get to Baratang, a boat ride from Nilambur Jetty takes you through the evergreen mangrove forests and mangrove-blanketed canals all the way to Nayadera. From Nayadera a small trek of about 1.2 km will take you to nature’s brilliance- the limestone caves!
Mud volcanoes are another one of nature’s miracles. Tiny pits spitting hot bubbling puddles of mud and gases should definitely be something you wouldn’t want to miss. How do I get there? You could take a local bus from Nilambur jetty towards Baludera beach if you’re on a budget. However, you could also hire a car which will cost approximately 200 bucks per person.
This place is a paradise for all bird-lovers. Covered with gorgeous green mangroves, this place is known for the parrots and other birds that inhabit it. The best time to get here is around winter through the start of summer. How do I get there? Located around 30kms from Baratang Jetty, you can either take a 30 minutes boat ride or take a bus to the island.
Just 25 kms away from , Munda Pahar beach in is about as close to nature as it gets. From its meandering mangrove cover to the stunning sunsets, Munda Pahar beach offers you the essentially Andaman experience. Only 40 minutes by road, the beach is also called Sunset Point that offers you a majestic view of the seaside sunset. The seabed however is very rocky and not recommended for swimming. Also famous for bird watching.
